About the event

From sunup to sundown, the Few family toiled on their land, cultivating wheat, barley, and oats, and tending both mill and field with determined hands. The Eno’s steady current powered their grist mill, while saws bit through timber destined for new homes and barns. Life’s rhythm pulsed with the seasons: planting, harvesting, grinding, and sawing—their days ordered by the demands of the land and the unpredictable tides of colonial politics. The hardships they weathered forged a resilience, soon to be tested by the turmoil sweeping through North Carolina in the early 1770s.
