About the event
Join us as historic interpreters bring to life Capt. James Thackston’s Company of the Orange County militia during a general muster in February 1771! Experience the emotion as men are encouraged to volunteer for Governor Tryon’s upcoming expedition against the Regulators.
Try your luck with period gambling and gaming in the tavern, witness the routine of camp life, and interact with townspeople, a sutler, and cooks preparing meals in the historic Allen House. As you step back in time, you’ll have the opportunity to uncover the stories of real men from Orange County, brought to life by costumed re-enactors.
This living history event offers a unique glimpse into the choices faced by North Carolina’s colonial militia in the months leading up to the Battle of Alamance.
