About the event
On May 16, 1771, backcountry farmers known as the Regulators faced off against Royal Governor William Tryon’s militia on the very ground now preserved as the Alamance Battleground State Historic Site. This year, we invite you to commemorate the 255th anniversary of that pivotal moment in North Carolina history with a special reenactment held on the exact date—and at the very place—it unfolded.
Arrive before 11 a.m. to experience the full program, including an engaging battlefield reenactment and a full day of living history demonstrations. Throughout the day, you can explore hearth cooking, meet colonial surgeons and watch traditional spinning.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for seniors, children, and military guests. Planning to stay a while? Bring your appetite—there’s a picnic area on-site, and a food truck will be available for added convenience.
Starting at 3 PM at the visitor center explore the backstory of the Battle of…
