Alamance Memorial Trail

As you leave the Kiosk and continue your journey, the trail will take a sharp right and then a quick left, marking the beginning of the main path. Just a quarter of a mile ahead, you’ll come across a sign directing you to a “Shortcut to Exit.” If you’re looking to wrap up your walk early, this path will lead you back to the yard near the Visitor Center.               However, if you choose to stay on the main trail, you’ll soon arrive at Meditation Point.  Here, a serene bench and a small marker invite you to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by the brave men who fought here. It’s a perfect spot for quiet contemplation and remembrance.

As you continue down the hill, keep an eye out for a sign leading to “Fern Ridge.” Follow the circular trail to the right, where you’ll discover at least four different types of ferns gracefully adorning the landscape. This charming detour will bring you back to the main trail, which is lined with small markers identifying various plants and trees along your path.

The trail circles back, concluding in the inviting yard near the Visitor Center. We hope you thoroughly enjoy your walk on the Memorial Trail! If you’re interested in honoring an ancestor who fought in the battle, please don’t hesitate to contact the Alamance Battleground State Historic Site for more information on placing a marker.
